YTL Developments and South Gloucestershire Council agree framework for the development of major new infrastructure

The Cribbs Patchway New Neighbourhood (CPNN) framework agreement will see a new railway station MetroBus links as well as schools and community facilities built on the site of the historic former Filton Airfield.
YTL Developments has today signed the Cribbs Patchway New Neighbourhood framework agreement, providing details of how major new public infrastructure for the North Bristol fringe will be delivered.
The agreement ensures that full funding is in place to deliver the new railway station at Filton North, as well as for a dedicated MetroBus, connecting Cribbs Causeway directly to the city centre via the historic Filton Airfield. It also provides for major upgrades to the local road network. All the new transport connections will be delivered by 2022.
In addition, the agreement, which also binds other local landowners including Persimmon and Taylor Wimpey, sets out the funding and location for a range of new community facilities, such as schools, parks, health centres, libraries and leisure facilities.
Under the agreement, over the next 20 years YTL Developments will deliver over 2,600 homes 62 acres of employment space as well as retail and leisure facilities. The vision is to transform the historic Filton Airfield into the centre of a thriving new neighbourhood, home to a new urban community.

This agreement ensures that all the transport infrastructure and community facilities are in place and fully-funded at the outset, ensuring that a new generation will be able to live up to the legacy of the area’s pioneering past.”
Cllr Colin Hunt, Cabinet member responsible for planning, said: “The new communities planned here will be well-connected with key transport and employment hubs. A key feature of transport infrastructure identified on the former Filton Airfield plans is the proposed ‘North-South Public Transport Link’… This link will bring significant accessibility and connectivity benefits to large area’s of Bristol’s Northern Fringe, providing a direct public transport link from parts of Bristol south of the Airfield to Cribbs, Patchway and The Mall.”
